Radiographic Assistants MRI Study Day
The Radiographic Assistants online course is run over two days to cover CT and MRI in more detail.
Delegates can choose whether to attend for one day or both of the days.
This modular two day course is aimed at expanding and updating the knowledge of Radiographic Assistants, support workers and admin staff based in MRI or CT departments. You can attend either one day or both days depending on your interest and availability. It is designed to provide a valuable insight into the roles of the various clinical teams, encourage best practice and help you further support your clinical staff. Lectures are delivered by practising clinical radiographers.

Day One : CT
The role of the assistant in CT
The principles of CT
Clinical terminology, body planes and anatomy
Radiation protection
Clinical CT and basic positioning
CT images, anatomy/pathology
CT contrast agents in CT
Role of CT in imaging
Day Two : MRI
The role of the assistant in MRI
Overview of MRI and how it works
MRI Safety and patient management
Care of the patient in MRI
Clinical MRI, patient and coil positioning
MRI anatomy/pathology
MRI contrast agents, cannulation
MRI Technology and terminology
Role of MRI in imaging
Lunch and plenty of refreshments are provided throughout the day

I found the course very interesting, relevant and beneficial. As RA’s we don’t usually have the opportunity to learn about different weightings/orientations of the images. Or how the scanner works to pick up signal. That is very useful information to have as patients would often ask about this. I feel more confident now that I could answer their questions. The course was very well organized, the slides were easy to follow and the use of images really helped me to understand along the way.
